Has anyone used the private’s water taxi? There will be 6 of us going to the Stucky Molino and it can take you directly to the hotel. For 6 people I read it’s about 160 Euros. It’s a special occasion for us so we don’t mind the cost. But wondering if anyone tried it and if so any tips about it? Thanks.
Booked on-line in advance it is 135 EUR for 6 people and luggage.

At either price it’s the way to go. You’ll have help with your bags, get directly to your hotel (as opposed to a nearby vaporetto stop) and have a scenic and fun ride.
I posed the same question about 2 months ago wondering if it was worth it and every answer I received was YES, YES, YES. I booked mine online and I'm looking forward to arriving in Venice in the morning via a private water taxi.
hey pisces
as alan posts, the only way to go. we've done it 3 times and so worth it. gets you as close to hotel as can, private with you and your gang, not squeezed and sardined in watching your bags, room for all of you.
as sam posts website, that's the site we used, you pay extra over 4 people. out of arrivals take escalater up to "boats" a little ways to walk, find your boat driver and away you go, only way into venice.
we booked online, will need your arrival day, hotel, flight number just track flight if a delay.
pack light, enjoy venice it's a magical place.
schezzini.it alessandro does a cichetti bar crawl (small bites, wine and history of venice)
streaty.com street food tour
walk the alleyways, zig and zag, get lost it's the experience, we rode a gondola in the back canals. drank lots of prosecco since the vineyards and wineries are close. we did a private prosecco tour to prosecco road which was fabulous.
may a half day boat ride down the brenta canal to padua (ilburchiello.it)
have a great time

Do it! It’s fantastic and the only way to arrive in Venice. It was so good we thought it was the only way to leave as well!
Have a great trip!

I agree. Go for it. We did not last May, and our experience on the Alilaguna boat was frustrating. We stood in a winding line forever to get on one of their boats. Then we were sitting so low in the boat trying to see out of filthy windows it was impossible to experience the feeling of awe as you arrive in Venice.
Another "go for it!!!"
It was such a lovely, magical way to arrive in Venice. We did the shared water taxi (same as private, just includes about 4 people you will meet for the first time), and my husband was all smiles all the way, truly enjoying his special arrival in Venice. He later declared it one of the highlights of his trip!!
For a group of 6, without a doubt, take a private water taxi. Enjoy!
For a special occasion, is it as dramatic an entrance from the train station as it is from airport?
I have the same question as Jill; is a private water taxi desirable from the train station?
The train station is on the Grand Canal, just further to the south. Once you are that far into Venice, a vaporetto is sufficient to my way of thinking. The airport is much further away.
Barb is correct. The only advantage of a water taxi from Santa Lucia is it can likely go right to your hotel but at a price. But if your hotel is close to a vaporetto stop take that. The approach from the airport is in open water and is dramatic. Not so from the train.
Thank you Barb and Alan.!!
Yes, thank you! We are located close to a stop, so I guess we will make a grand exit and take a water taxi to the airport for our flight home.
We prebooked a private water taxi from the airport- was worth every penny. We had some flight delays coming from US, arrived about 3 hours later than expected. We checked in at the ticket desk, went right out to dock and cruised right up to our hotel, such a cool start to our trip.
We bought a 48 hour vapatetto pass and used it to get to the train station, our hotel was very close to a stop, this was very easy!
Have a great trip!
