Private Transportation service recommendations from Palermo Airport to central Palermo

Arriving in Palermo airport mid day on the weekend.

I'm aware of the bus to central Palermo (I believe the train station) and the taxi's. I could do the bus as it is cheap, (but sometimes dislike getting separated from my luggage and find buses as busy transportations hubs a bit iffy) and there are the taxi's which is subject to the usual shady taxi drivers who play fare games.

So I will likely book a private transfer service (eg. greeted via name on a board in the terminal). I don't mind paying the premium for it but like to get recommendations from those who have actually used one of the private services in Palermo. I see adds for several of them, so just trying to get a personal recommendation.
Thanks!

There is also a train now which takes you to the station and you can keep the luggage with you. The advantage of the bus is that it stops near the Politeama theater as well, in case your hotel is there.

The taxi from the airport to the city center is subject to a fixed fare which varies a bit depending on the area of the city center where you go:
Tariffa 1: (viale Michelangelo/Corso V. Emanuele) 39 euro
Tariffa 2: (Corso Calatafimi/Corso V.E.) 44 euro
Tariffa 3 (Central Station): 50 euro

If you tell me the hotel I can tell you the fare applicable to you.

There are basically two cooperative companies:
Trinacria: +39 0910225455
Coop Autoradio taxi: +39 091513311

We will be staying at the Ambasciatori which is just down the street from the central train station, so the train may be an attractive option.

The two companies you mentioned those are just taxi companies right? Not private transfer services ?

Thanks,
Steve

They are taxi cooperatives.
In Italy the taxi licenses (the 'medallions" as they are known in the US), by law, cannot be awarded to companies but only to individuals. Therefore the taxi drivers are all independent licensees who own taxi cab and the license. Although they are independent, they generally form cooperative companies and become members of them in order to share certain shared business services, such as radio dispatch, marketing, advertising, website design, etc. You can also book ahead a taxi through the cooperatives' websites (and they usually have apps.

If your hotel is the Ambasciatori the closest bus stop where the Prestia e Comandè bus stops is at the Station. Last time I was in Palermo I took the bus, as the train line had not been completed yet, and the buses are very nice and comfortable, so I wouldn't be concerned about the luggage, but the train is probably just as easy. Either way it's over 1/4 of a mile walk (about 10 min walk). If you don't mind the walk, I would take the bus or the train, rather than the taxi, since it's expensive (50 euro). However I think there is also a taxi share for a minimum of 4 people, but I haven't checked that option.

We took the train, super easy, short walk to the Ambascatori depending on your baggage. We had carry-on spinners, it was not a problem.
