Does anybody know the cost of a car and driver for one day - two people that will get us to and from Montecatini to Montepulciano and the other surrounding towns? The train/bus seems long and cumbersome. We want to explore the area at leisure and don't necessarily want an organized day tour.

Sorry but I'm a little confused. Are you relocating from Montecatini to Montepulciano, or are you looking at doing daytrips from Montecatini that would include Montepulciano?

sorry for the confusion. We're staying in Montecatini and wanting to go to Montepulciano , Pienza and Montalcino for the day.

You need at least two hours to get there, and at least two to come back.
Since you probably want to visit some of the area, you will need a car and driver for a full 8 hours minimum, or more likely 10.
Since they tend to charge about 25/30€ per hour plus some extra for mileage, you are looking at at least 300€ for a full day.
Or you could book a rental car from Europcar and drive yourself for about 30-40€ a day (gas and tolls won’t amount to much more than 60€ for the whole day.
