Private Transportation in Rome - FCO to Rome Centre etc.

Looking for recommendations in regards to private transportation (for 2, 4 or more persons) for travel between:

FCO and Rome Centre Hotels

Rome Centre to Civitavecchia

Civitavecchia Hotel to Port (or should we just try and use a taxi, when everyone else will be trying to do the same on embarkation day).

So far have come across Rome Airporter.

Thanks.

In the past I have used Rome Taxi, which in spite of its name is a Limo service. They pick you up in the airport terminal and deliver you to your hotel within central Rome for the same price as the regular Rome taxis. Last time I used it it was €48. Same for going from Rome to the cruise port - cost was around€100. Excellent service, nice vehicles. You book and pay on-line so makes for a nice easy arrival in Rome.

I also used Welcome Pickups when in Athens. I know they have a branch in Rome. Good service, with clean, well maintained cars and drivers spoke good English. They charged about €5.00 above the standard taxi rate.

hey hey barratt
as joe32f mentions, different entities.
rometaxicab is in rome georgia, be very careful
rometaxitransport.com is another private one. how many people determines how much, what size car/van is needed and how much luggage you have. when and where are you planning this cruise?
are you staying in rome itself or hotel near the port? the port is an hour or so from city center, few years back we took a cab to port, easy, we paid 140E back then.(had issues in rome with roads blocked from student/teacher protest, grabbed the first ride available) ask how close they get to embarking the ship?
book your taxi's ahead of time, one less stress. with as many people wanting to get to the ship, you may be waiting a long time in line or on hold at hotel, counting minutes and shaking in your boots to get there.
always keep their phone number and taxi co. name with you, most have whatsapp.com just download it on your phone, free calls.

check rome2rio.com to see what's offered, but do book with company your decide on.
aloha

Have used Rome Cabs a number of times and have always been pleased. We just send them an email outlining our particular needs and get a reply in less than 24 hours. If they are not able to accomodate your party, you can be comfortable with whomever they suggest. From your Civitavecchia Hotel to the Port itself, have the hotel make the arrangements (reservation) for you the day before. That should eliminate the embarkation day rush since the hotel will probably have a relationship with a local taxi firm.

On our two trips to Rome we arranged transportation from the airport to our hotels through the hotel. Not all hotels offer the service, so check with the one you’re staying at.

Walks of Italy has a new transportation section where you could reserve transportation. Contact them.

Also if you contact the hotel you are staying at they can help with transportation too.

Taxi from FCO to Rome center is a fixed rate 48 Euros up to 4 with luggage
Go outside terminal, get in line
Hand taxi driver the name of your hotel and the $$
No tip necessary but we just give a 50 euro bill to keep it simple
There will be taxi vans available

Personally I think it is better to take the train to Civit... - the port. It is basically a commuter run taking between 45 mins and an hour fifteen depending on the train. At least three trains an hour and more at peak times. The price is about 10 euro/person. The train station is right at the port about half mile from port entrance. Flat walk along the beach. You probably can see your ship from the train station. You could walk (we always do) or local bus or a taxi. We have boarded a number of ships out of Civit... Always stay in Rome and catch a train between 11 and noon and will be on board by 2 pm. Unless you are doing some sightseeing around Civit.. there really is no point in going to Civit.. earlier. It is kind of a gritty port city with little to see or do.

Good question, I'd like to add a qualifier. Assuming my trip comes off in September, my bike tour company will be dropping me off at FCO the end of the trip. I have four nights in Rome before leaving and a hotel in the center of town. The hitch is I will (probably) have my bicycle, packed in a hard shell bike travel case (roughly 50x12x35 inches). I dealt with this before in Milan and Venice (2015), but it was a tight squeeze. Anything I should look out for? The hotel may also have airport transfers, I haven't checked that far ahead.

Alan
You really should post this as your question instead of hijacking Roger's question. None of the Rome hotels will have a shuttle service but the hotel can arrange a shared shuttle or private taxi to the airport. The taxi service will run in the range of 40 - 50 euro and shuttle 10 to 15 euro less. There are a number of good hotels in the Termini area that you can walk to even with your bike box. But you hit the reason we shifted to Bike Fridays. Far easier to handle a standard suitcase.
