At the end of Sicily tour, I have an 8:30am flight PMO to NAP. I'm a young grandma, physically fit. Always walked to Palermo bus station, used Prestia, 1 hour to airport, when I've had later flights. But I'll have to leave hotel before six, and I won't venture out alone. Option of taxi, traffic to station, wait for bus, then 1 hr to airport seems risky, time-wise . Hotel recommends get private car service to airport, about 49e plus tip (how much?). Unless someone else on the tour also needs the same transport, for which we can split the cost, that's pricey for me -- but certainly a safer option. Hotel does not have a "favorite" reliable service, like we had in Madrid at end of that tour, when RS guide Nygil made a deal for 9 of us on a shuttle van. Can anyone recommend a reliable car or shuttle service to Palermo Airport? Possibly, our tour guide can advise, but I'd like to have some options beforehand. Anyone?

The Prestia buses start running 4:30/5am. I always have an 8:30 flight out and have never had a problem making it on time taking the bus. Also, if you're not aware, the Prestia buses pick up in several locations around town. As far as safety and going out alone at that time.....you should do what makes you comfortable of course but myself, I've never had any problems or had any uneasy feelings walking around Palermo at any time of the day.
