Taxi is a fixed rate 50 euros
Easy- go outside, get in line, hand the driver your address and the 50 euros
No tip needed

Often recommended here a company called Rome Cabs-a transfer service not a cab company

If you want a private driver, use Rome cab -- a limo service.

Some prefer to have their hotel make the arrangements, but we prefer to not do that. One might get a car service, a free lance "taxi", or a relative of the desk clerk. On time we wound up being driven by the brother-in-law of a hotel staff member. Nothing bad happened, and there were four of us and only one in-law, but we've been inclined to not do that since.

Can the fixed rate taxi for 50 euro accommodate 5 people and luggage? Where exactly do you get these fixed rate ones and not get swindled?

I believe it is for 4 people plus luggage so an additional few euros for 5th person.
You don't get swindled if you get in the OFFICIAL taxi rank in front of airport. You will get swindled if you follow anyone who offers you a taxi that is NOT in the official rank.

Taxi fares from Fiumicino Airport to Rome Centre are fixed
The authorities of Rome have set the taxi fares from Fiumicino airport to Rome Aurelian Walls (The historical center of Rome) in 50 euro.
The price includes the baggage and is for up to four passengers, and is valid for both directions: Fiumicino airport to Rome City, and Rome City to Rome Fiumicino airport.

Hi,

What is the typical wait for a taxi in the official rank at FCO? just looking for a ballpark - closer to 10 minutes, or closer to 30 minutes?

Thanks,
Vince

We’ve never waited more than a few minutes
Usually walk up and hop in a cab
(4 arrivals in past 3.5 years)

I suppose there could be a wait at certain times but we’ve never encountered that arriving am from USA

Rome Cabs….cost is 75 euros for 5. They use Mercedes. Meet you right at the arrivals exit. You provide their flight details and they will be there even if flight is late

We've used both Rome Cabs, taxis, and private drivers. Never had a problem with any although we did enjoy our driver meeting us in the terminal and walking us to our car. If going taxi, take heed and do not go with anyone who is offering a cheap ride. Use the official taxi stand.

The Leonardo Express is so easy from FCO; walk out of Termini train station to the taxi stand. So easy…
