I will be arriving later at night at Rome F. airport and was thinking about arranging a private transfer via car/van service. Has anybody done this and can recommend a company? I was thinking that it would be nice to have someone waiting for me my first night in Rome. I am traveling solo.

Hi Cathleen, we used RomeCabs a few years ago and will use them again this year. They are highly rated and very dependable. We provided them with our flight number and they monitored the flight & were there waiting for us outside of the baggage claim area holding a sign with my last name on it. Our flight was around 4-5 hours late and I was worried that they wouldn't be there waiting for us but they were! They use air conditioned, comfortable new cars and our driver was very friendly and helpful. The cost is around 50 euro (just a few euro more than a regular taxi) and they are a top notch company! Have a great trip!

romecabs.com is a wonderful company. I use them all the time. They are always on time waiting with a sign that has our name on it. They take you directly to your hotel without any fuss. I would call and book as soon as possible. Donna

Thank u so much for all your input! I will probably be asking more questions as time goes on. I've been to Italy before, but that was fifteen years ago and I was with someone else. I'm winging it on my own this time.

We've been to Rome twice and both times we've arranged transportation with our hotel. We've found the rates competitive with taxis and completely worth it. The drivers have been friendly and waiting just outside the gate--a really nice thing after terrible flights and dealing with jet lag. We don't pay for many luxuries when traveling but this one is always worth it!
