Private Tours of Rome with guides from RS book

Has anyone used the Rome guides RS recommends in his book? Can you share your experiences and if you have a guide, you really loved? We are looking for guides of Ancient Rome (Colosseum, Forum) and the Vatican (separate days) for 2 adults and a 10-year-old. Thanks!

We used Francesca Caruso many years ago but she is increasingly hard to book due to her commitments to the Rock Steves tours. She recommended her colleague Sonia Tavoletta to me in 2012 and we and friends have used So is many times. She will customize to you and gear to your interests. Contact her at [email protected].

We used Sonia Tavoletta at the recommendation of Francesca. If you type her name in the RS search bar you’ll see reviews and a link for her. I had my husband and another male traveling partner and all three of us loved her.

Another vote for Sonia Tavoletta. We used her twice and really liked her style. Didn’t overwhelm, tailored her talks to our interests and interest level. Very nice. All around solid guide.

Another vote for Sonia. We’ve had several tour days with her in the past 2 years, and she’s wonderful.

Also, especially for a food tour guide, contact Sophie Minchilli at [email protected] . She’s the daughter of noted author and food expert Elizabeth Minchilli.

We just ended our tour with Francesca Caruso today and she was amazing. She is passionate, knowledgeable, and engaging. I can not recommend her more highly. Call her now! We first met her in 2011 on a RS “Heart if Italy” tour and when planning this trip we wanted her all to ourselves! Francesca will not disappoint you. She will introduce you to her Rome!
