We have a group of 7 adults going on a cruise in October and one of our stops will be Sicily (Messina cruise terminal). Any recommendations of private tour guides? That's one of the few areas in Italy I've never been, and I'm not even sure what I should be focused on in the area. We'd be looking at spending about 6 to 8 hours on shore.

We just returned from Sicily. We did two tours with Sicily Life. Our guide Fabio was great. He told us about picking up groups at the cruise port and taking them around. We did their Godfather Tour and the Day on Etna/Winery tour. Both were excellent. My understanding is they will also create a more customized tour if you have areas of particular interest. He did mention a lot of people coming from the ships don’t realize how big the island is and try to pack too much into one day. Depending on how much time you want to spend on the bus, we really enjoyed Taormina (closer) and Cefalu (a bit further).
