private tour guide in Rome

My husband and I are traveling with another couple in late May and have about 1.5 days in Rome. Our friends have never been to Rome. My husband and I used a private tour guide about 15 years ago with our children and it was the best, easiest and most efficient way to see the sights. Since we have limited time this visit, does anyone have a very good recommendation for a private, english speaking guide who has the ability to take us around and have access to venues without waiting in long lines, etc.?

Any and all suggestions are welcome - thank you!

Highly recommend A&R Tours Italy https://www.tourroma.com/

We had booked a tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill, with a different touring company. Less than 2 days prior to our planned tour, the other tour company sent an email cancelling. Fortunately we received a recommendation for A&R Tours from another couple we met. A quick email exchange with Adrienne (one of the owners of A&R) and we were booked for a private tour. Adrienne was highly responsive and easy to work with.

The tour itself was incredible. Renalto was extremely knowledgeable and brought ancient Rome to life for us!

Francesca Caruso is a terrific guide who often is a local guide for Rick Steves tours. She is likely quite busy, and probably expensive, but if you can get her, you won’t be disappointed.
