I'm looking for a private tour guide to take us to the lower levels of the St. Clemente as well as possibly the houses of the Caelian hill. I know we can go on our own but are looking for someone to give us more information on the history. Any recommendations? We are a group of four.

Yes, we are doing a half day tour with them this summer. I think it's called Underground Rome or something similar. It focuses on San Clemente, a small Roman house (or houses?) nearby, and includes a visit to one of the catacombs.
I believe that they offer the tour in both a private tour and a small group tour. I'd encourage you to e-mail the company to inquire about your specific date and wish list. They're very easy to communicate with. And their tour guides are truly top notch.

In 2016, May family and I toured San Clemente with Marta Marsili. It turned out to be one of our favorite sites of the trip. I highly recommend her.
