Private taxi to Tuscany wine area

Four adults will be in Florence for 2 nights in July. We will be arriving in the late morning and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to do a mini wine tour in the Tuscany region. We do not have time for the large guided wine tour. I was wondering if anyone has just hired a taxi for 3 hours and gone on their own. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Hi Sharon,

My husband and I were also short on time. But we found a great winery to go to just 30min outside of Florence called Castello di Verrazzano: http://www.verrazzano.com/ . It's really easy to get to. Just take the bus to Greve (30min ride) and it drops you off right below the winery. They have a few different types of tours. Some last only an hour. We did the lunch tour which (depending on how long you want to stay) could last up to 3hours.

It was the highlight of our entire Italy trip. For the lunch tour (Chianti Tradition) you did 1 hour tour of the winery. Then did a tasting with 4 different red wines, 1 dessert wine, and 1 balsamic vinaigrette. For food it was served with bread with olive oil drizzled over. Then we got a huge plate of meats and cheeses (it was big for one person...I would recommend sharing depending on how hungry you are). The tasting takes place on a terrace overlooking tuscany. Just beautiful.

I liked this one because it was a quick trip. They also do a dinner tasting which might be fun for you too.

Once you book your ticket online with them, they'll give you specific directions on how to do the bus etc. But really easy.

Have a great time!
