Private ride/Taxi or train from FCO airport to Civitavecchi's hotel?

Hello, we are flying in to Leonardo da Vinci airport, with two large luggages. Is it more convenient to book a private ride/taxi, or take the train to a hotel in Civitavecchi? It appears the train tickets, even in first class is a lot cheaper than the other option; however, we don't know how far the train terminal is from the airport, and to our hotel. Can someone clue us in. Thanks in advance.

Go to goggle map and pull in the address. The airport is SW of Rome and Civitavecchi is NW up along the coast. A taxi from the airport to Civit... is at least 45 mins and closer to an hour. So a taxi will hit at least 100 to 150 euro. There is no direct public transportation to Civit.... To take the train you will need to taken the Leonard Express into Termini (Rome) and another train to Civit... The airport train station is in the airport. The train into Rome is about 30 mins and the train to Civit.... is 45 to an hour, 15 depending on the train. About three trains per hours. The Civit.... train station is within sight of your cruise ship. It will be more convenient to take a taxi from the airport but it will be expensive.

Where is your hotel in Civit?? It is working port city and there are no hotels close to the port or train station. When we take cruises out of Civit... we stay in a hotel near Termini and catch a mid day train to Civit since there is nothing in Civit....

Another train option is to take the "other" train from FCO, the FL1, to Trastevere station, then catch the train to Civitavecchi from there. Smaller station than Termini, so might be easier to navigate, the total cost should be about 20 euro and 1 1/2 to 2 hours. The train station at FCO is attached to the airport, still a bit of a walk, but all inside. Changing trains may mean moving to another platform, but I assume you are able to handle the luggage OK, just do not want to have to haul it a mile.

Paul, I was aware of it and view it as a short cut for us. But it involves changing platforms and up and down stairs and the tunnels under the tracks. Since they are going on a cruise with large suitcases, I think it is best to go to Termini because it is all flat. Only the Regionale train stops there and you can get a faster train from Termini not that it makes that much difference.

Some good news on the regional train option connecting at Trastevere station. The cost of a ticket from FCO to Civitavecchia is only 11 euro.
