Private guides in Rome, Venice, Florence & Paris

Hi - friends of our a couple of years ago used a local private guide in their Rome tours. Has anyone done that & if yes,how was your experience and do you have guide recommendations (contact info etc).

We just returned from Rome and had the pleasure of using Anna Maria Gehle for two days (annamariagehle@gmail.com). She is a native Roman who speaks excellent English and is a licensed tour guide. In addition, she is also an archaeologist and historian who really knows her stuff! She brought every site alive with wonderful stories and was also able to make us comfortable with the ins and outs of Rome--getting around, eating, etc... Highly recommend Anna Maria.
