We are looking for a private guide for 10 of us arriving by cruise ship on Fri. Sep. 2, 2011. I had no response from the 2 in Rick Steves new book, Mediterranean Cruise Ports. Does anyone have any other recommendations? Thanks.

Look on either General Europe or Transportation on this site, someone else is doing the same thing as you. Maybe you can send that person a PM and get information, I seem to remember it was expensive, almost $500 or so.

Try italylimousine.com. I have booked them for a 9 hour private tour in the Amalfi Coast area. Cash price - 300 euro. A bit expensive but, based on the size of your group, a good price per person, although it may be a bit higher if they need multiple vehicles. The upside is doing what you want for as long as your want and not being led around like a horse on a rope (if you did a cruise line group excursion), provided that everyone in your group has the same goals for the day.
