private guide in Pisa?

I will be traveling to Pisa for a half day visit with family and considering hiring a private guide to make the most of our time there. Has anyone done this? Was it worth the time and money? Any recommendations? Thank you in advance!

Thanks Steve! I did read through Rick's recommendations and that's where I got the idea and was intrigued by the idea of a local guide who might offer more insight and show us more than just the three main sights in the Campo. I thought that we might enjoy and see more with a guide as opposed to having our noses stuck in the book. There will be about 8 of us varying in age and interest.
Thanks again!

A good guide is worth his/her weight in gold. They can tailor the experience to your interests, and there's not a guidebook yet who can answer a question that pops into your mind.
