Private driver Sorrento to Amalfi Coast

Hello.
We are going to be in Sorrento in June for 3 days. We will have a car, but I would like to hire a private driver for a day to take my family from Sorrento to all over Amalfi, Positano, etc. Any suggestions for the reliable companies? Thanks in advance.

We used Sorrento Silver Star. Nice air conditioned Mercedes mini van. He picked us up promptly in Atrani and we went to Ravello, Sorrento and Positano. We didn’t have a lot of time in each place, but they can tailor the day to what you want to do.

I’m more budget minded, so the cost was a little hard to swallow, but when I really broke it down for 3 people and 8 hrs, it made it easier. And it was my mom’s fav day of our trip, so ‘priceless’.

Amalfi Coast Destination +39 089 831244 or google their website. We used them for several day trips this April while based in Sorrento. They have excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. Prompt Pre trip communications, friendly, personable driver and tour guides In addition to seeing the highlights of the Coast, Naples and Paestum, we were taken to small out of the way restaurants and a winery and had amazing meals. Our driver Roberto was like family.

Consider the Mondo Shared Tours that RS worked out a deal. For 50 Euros/person, they take you in a clean and comfortable minivan from Sorrento to Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello. They let you out in each town and you are on your own until the designated meeting time at the van to go on to the next town. In total, it is a 9 to 10-hour day. You can't do better hiring a private driver for a day. We took the shared tour in late March 2017. I highly recommend it.

We used Monetti Taxi (I think they were recommended by RS) and it was FANTASTIC! We had Carmelo, the father. He was great with our whole family (myself, hubby and two teenagers.) We were able to organize beforehand which towns were most important to us to see. He also took us to one that was not on the list but was amazing! Carmelo was also the one who recommended that we go to Villa Cimbrone--a definite must if you go to Ravello. Their website is: http://www.monettitaxi17.it/English.htm

Have a great trip!

I second Amalfi Coast Destinations!! We hired a car which picked us up at our hotel in Sorrento, had a nice air-conditioned Mercedes Van which was nice and high so we could see the coast. Driver was professionally dressed and maintained a professional relationship with us while having a great sense of humor.

Ordinarily I'd say pshaw on the tour and say take the SITA bus yourselves for a real taste of the A.C., but seeing that you're visiting in the height of the tourist season and all the traffic and B.S. that goes along with it, and have the funds to spare--this will not be cheap--I'll go with the flow and say find a reputable company and have fun!

I definitely second Monetti Taxi. They are recommended by Rick Steves and do a great job of catering to your interests. They have an 8 passenger air conditioned Mercedes van.

Francesco Marrapese is fantastic. His web site is www.francescomarrapese.com. He is fluent in a English and drives a comfortable newer model Mercedes and is very caring and informative. He tailors your time around your interests and knows the area like the back of his hand. Look at his reviews; they are deservedly excellent.

For touring the Amalfi drive (with stops in Sorrento, Positano, lunch in Scala and Ravello) We used http://www.amalficoastourselect.com/ - Pigi is wonderful, has so much personality, passion for the area and speaks English!

We also used Frank Buonocore for airport transfer back to the Naples airport. He is wonderful, also English speaking, his family is from Sorrento and he lived in the US for a while. https://www.tripadvisor.it/Attraction_Review-g187782-d12833333-Reviews-Good_Heart_Limos-Sorrento_Province_of_Naples_Campania.html#lightbox

Ditto on Monetti taxi. I let him know in advance that my husband didn't do well on windy roads, so he took it slow around corners and my husband did fine. The bus along the Amalfi coast could have ended in a divorce.

We just arrived home from Italy last night. I booked Monetti for our tour of the Amalfi Coast on Wednesday. It was amazing! The air-conditioned Mercedes mini-van was quite comfortable. Our driver took us to Positano, Amalfi, Scala, and Ravello. He made a table reservation at a popular restaurant for lunch in Ravello, which we really enjoyed. He provided information about each point of interest on our route. His English was excellent, and he very kindly assisted us with our Italian. This was a splurge for us, but well worth the price.

Thanks, everyone! I really appreciate everyone's help on here. We decided to rent a car in Milan and just drive everywhere. Will avoid driving in places like Venice, Rome, and some Amalfi coast. Will play it by ear and I will let you know how it goes when we get back :)

We used Transferelax, based in Sorrento, for transportation for our group of 5 to Sorrento from the Naples train station, for a full day tour of the Amalfi Coast and for 2 of us to get from Sorrento to the Naples Airport. They are very prompt to reply to inquiries and offer great reliable service and confirm the arrangements. Their fees are very reasonable and each time we were picked up in a Mercedes van. Giuseppe was a wonderful guide on the Amalfi tour and was full of information on the area and its history. Natale (Chris) drove us to the airport and we enjoyed visiting with him and learning more about the area. We will definitely us them again on future visits and they made our visit so pleasant and stress free. Check their website as they also do other tours and travel arrangements.
