Private driver from Naples to Ravello? And back, Feedback on first leg of trip.

We are wanting to do our next Italy trip without a car. Our first leg is to fly into Naples in the evening, spend 3 nights, and then get to Ravello for a 3 night stay. It looks like a taxi or private driver can take us there in a little over an hour. Much more efficient than buses or boats.

A bit of background, we have been here before and I have driven the coast and this backroad to Naples, hence am happy to let someone else be the driver. We have been to Pompeii but not the Archeological Museum or did we spend any time in the city of Naples.

We plan to just hang out in Ravello, see the gardens again, a little hiking, one day trip to Positano.

Then we would like a private car back to Naples and a train headed north. Any recommendations on private companies for reputable drivers? Comments.

Hello,
We used Mondo Guide (based in Napoli) for this a few years back and they were great. If you can, get their guide Dario to take you through the archeology museum in Napoli. Talk about value added! Don’t miss the museum this go-round: it’s where all the ‘stuff’ from Herculaneum and Pompeii wound up.

We used Positano Transfer in 2019 for a driver from Positano to Naples, with stops in Pompeii and Oplontis with a guide. Was very reasonable and comfortable for 4 adults and a child in their minivan. Driver was great, I think his name was Sebastian. The guide they picked for us was also amazing. Just be ready with cash to pay the driver at the end.

I have used Gianluca Savarese with Private Day Tours on multiple past trips to Italy and am actually working with him again for our transportation needs in the Amalfi Coast for our upcoming trip. He’s so responsive, good English, reasonable rates and very knowledgeable in the area.

I suppose you're avoiding the Music Festival weeks in Ravello. I noticed there's a super expensive resort in Ravello that has a beach club and a shuttle to get there. I've never slept in Ravello.

I'm not flogging them if you're not interested, and they're much easier to see by Circumvesuviana while you're in Naples, but there are four other ancient sites. Besides Herculaneum, I've only been to Villa Oplontis, but it was superb, and a short walk from the train. I summarize it by saying that it might be good for someone with bad knees or a bad back, who just can't hack Pompeii. But it's art-history importance is quite high.

Time or interest for Palace of Caserta? Cave of the Cumaean Sibyll or "Virgil's" Tomb?

I usually recommend asking your hotel for their land-partner.
