Private driver for day trip from Florence

We are looking for a private driver recommendation from Florence to wineries south of Florence for the day. Not interested in a tour, just someone to get us safely from place to place! Thanks!

For the better wineries you do need advance reservation and expect to pay a tasting fee. And we encountered some strict adherence to advance reservation.

Thanks, all! I bought the RS guidebook, but it still seems like these are tours and not just drivers. I'd like to choose what wineries we go to and not have to go to pre-selected ones. Am I misunderstanding?

We hired Tuscany Car Tours to provide our group a custom tour from Rome to Florence over a 2-day period of time (stopped overnight in Siena). They were fabulous! We emailed/called the owner (Filippo) what we wanted to do and they planned a custom tour. The owner was fabulous as we planned the trip, the driver was wonderful and entertaining, the van comfortable, and such a memorable experience. The highlight of our Italy 2017 trip. Good luck!

I can't recommend a particular driver, but if you're looking for an unbelievable day trip from Firenze, hire a driver and have him/her take you to the Verrazzano Winery in Greve for a tour and lunch and a lot of wine. The location is magical, the tour is awesome, the group lunch is molto bene. The wine doesn't stop so having a driver is the way to go. You'll need a reservation. "En boca al lupo"

2 years ago when we last visited Florence we hired Niccoli Limousine http://niccolimousineservice.net/en/escursioni-toscana for 3 different transfers. One of the transfers involved a visit to the Verrazzano winery and as the above poster noted it is fabulous. The company is very reliable and very easy to deal with. We had 3 different drivers and each one was very personable and professional. Would highly recommend.

Here's another vote for Castello di Verrazzano. We used their agriturismo as our home base when we toured Tuscany.

I suggest you make this your one stop day trip. It is important to do a food and wine tasting. Most wines aren't made for sipping or just tasting. They must be paired with the appropriate food to be properly appreciated.

We took the tour and had the food an wine tasting lunch. After the wonderful tour of the winery, you start lunch with an appetizer served with prosecco. This is followed by a succession of meat and pasta dishes served with the Chianti Classico, Chianti Reserva and their Super Tuscan. Along the way you also get to sample their olive oil and their amazing balsamic vinegar. You finish the meal with biscotti served with Vin Santo.

Since we were staying their, we dawdled and ate in true Italian fashion, taking nearly three hours for lunch. We had a special treat as well. The winery owner and the chief vintner were trying out their newest vintages before bottling. The owner kept coming over with samples to get our opinion. Luckily we could walk down the hill to our accommodations and spend the rest of the afternoon recuperating before driving in to Greve that evening to attend the Christmas fair.
