Private Cook in Italy

We are hoping to find someone that might come to our house and cook for us in Florence and Rome (separate cooks obviously). We would prefer someone affordable rather than fancy.

In addition, we would love to find a cooking class in either of these cities.

Thanks for any help!!

I've wanted to try this for years: Home Food or Eat With. Some of their cooks will come to you, but normally you eat in their home. There was a thread here recently about a fantastic experience with a cook in Rome, do a search. I believe her name was Francesca and she was with the 'eatwith' program. But the Home Food program was started by, and cooks are certified by, the Slow Food organization in Italy to preserve ItaIian regional food traditions. That's the one I would go for. In my last two trips to Italy, I haven't been able to convince my traveling companions, and it's hard to book a seat for one. So I have no personal experience, but I WILL do this someday!

Hi Taryn
Last year we wanted something like that in florence, ended up at mercato centrale and taking a cooking class upstairs for at cucina lorenzo de' medici, was about 60 euros for about 2 hours.

Just a few things we did some looking at last year. no recommendation since never got that far but you at least have places to research. Enjoy

The first place to check for a cook would be the person you are renting from. They often have a friend who performs this service. Explain that you're not looking for a chef, but someone who is proficient in the kitchen.
