My parents are going on a cruise around Italy. Has anyone used a private car service to explore Rome. They will dock in Civitavecchia and are looking for a car service to pick them up and tour Rome for the day

Try romecabs.com. They are wonderful. It will be expensive because the ride in from the port is so long but it's a great way for them to see the city. The driver cannot take them into any of the sites but can wait for them if they wish to visit anything. Donna

We booked through SmartCruise Tours. Their price couldn't be touched and the reviews are very good. I feel like we are getting a steal!

Also check out Transfers Rome: http://www.transfersrome.com/rome-tours/civitavecchia-to-rome-tour/ They have a tour from Civitavecchia to Rome but it can be customized to meet your interests.

I second Donna on Stefano from Romecabs, I don't know what the cost would be, (Donna knows her stuff) but we used them in 2011 for our transports and are using them for that and a really crazy splurge for a daytrip from Rome to Naples this coming November (Our Honeymoon, worth splurging a bit, lol). We found them dependable and honest and very nice!!

Another vote for romecabs.com. Used them many time and will do so again. If cost is an issue, they can train to Rome very inexpensively and hook up with the service in Rome. They do require payment in Euros; no charge cards.
