Private car service out of Venice

We will be in Venice in September and want to travel to a war cemetary near Riccione - we have considered train but the timing does not work for our flight home. Does anyone have an recommendations of a car service out of Venice?

Nothing to recommend, but you are aware there are no roads in Venice, so a car cannot pick you up from your hotel.
The only place cars can access is the "Piazzale Roma" near the station. You would still have to get there from your hotel, either on foot or on a Vaporetto.

I did find one place by searching online: https://www.veneziaportaest.com/en/services/car-rental-with-driver-for-private-users/private-transfer-from-venice-to-rimini-riccione.php
Venice to Riccione is a long way - according to https://www.viamichelin.com/ time: 03h11, distance: 275 km; so it won't be cheap.

Which airport are you flying out of and is your flight the same day as you want to make this visit?

It looks to be quite a long drive between Venice and Riccione.
Edit: oops, Chris pointed that out while I was typing.

Thanks for the responses.

Airport departing from is Marco Polo
Yes am aware that we will have to travel from our hotel in Venice to car terminal . I agree it is along way to Riccione and I did get pricing from Venzia Porta.......very expensive.

I am still considering trains - the problem is that the return train that I have found does not return back to Venice Santa Lucia until after 10PM...not sure how confident we are navigating to our hotel in Venice at that time of night?

Just thought I would see if anyone has ever found a different car service that may work. thanks again

Without your exact travel dates and using a random one of June 26, I'm seeing direct Frecciabianca 8881 train from Venezia S. Lucia to Riccione at 6:55 AM that would get you there by 9:42 (2 hrs, 47 min).

Coming back, there is a Frecciabianca 8884 train departing Riccinone at 17:10 and arriving at Venezia S. Lucia at 20:25 (3 hrs 15 min) with change to Frecciargento 8448 in Bologna and Regionale 11061 in Mestre.

That would give you 7 hours or so to see the cemetery, have lunch, etc. I assume you'd need to hire a cab from the station (which looks to be pretty small) Is it Coriano Ridge cemetery you're wanting to get to?

When is you flight home? If it is not until the following day, should be no problem to go and return by train. Vaporettos run all night on the Grand Canal. Venice stays active until midnight generally.

Thanks so much for the responses....most helpful!

Yes it is the Coriano Ridge War Cemetery we want to visit. My husband's Uncle is buried there - and no one from his family has ever visited.

The suggestions have been most helpful and we think the train may be the best option! It is helpful and gives us more confidence to know that even if we are later in the evening returning to Venice - we will be able to get transportation back to our hotel.

Have a wonderful day!

where's the hotel - I can give specifics for it. Location is helpful, name of hotel is best.

What month are you coming over?

I would probably not want to find a Venice hotel for the first time in the dark. But once you know where it is, you will be coming back after dinner every night in the dark. So, coming back from the train station in the dark, on your last night, will not be difficult.

As Nigel says, if you give us your hotel address, we can help you with more specific directions. Or, look on the hotel's website. Since Venice does not use standard street addresses and can be confusing, most Venice hotel website have detailed directions from the train station and airport.

Given the great responses and detailed information about the trains - we are going to plan to take a train and figure out our way back from the Terminal to our hotel. We should be fine as it will be our 2nd day in Venice and we will have been out and abut.

Many thanks to everyone for your advice!
