We are completing our Rick Steve's Tuscany tour this September that ends in Lucca. We need to fly out of Florence airport (FLR) and realize there are public transportation options. However, we are looking at hiring a private car and driver for convenience and to save time. Can anyone out there make any recommendations?

I requested a quote from this company for a transfer from Lucca- not to FLR- but they do offer that route as well.
No experience with but they were very responsive and helpful
I do know that your tour guide will work with tour members to help with "exit" transportation. You may not want to wait til tour ends though.
Search "ncc lucca" on Google. NCC is the Italian acronym for a private car with driver. That should get you started.
compared with that high price, just for comparison, I'll mention that the train from Lucca to Firenze SMN cost 7.20€ per person and takes about an hour and 20 minutes, many times during the day. A tram goes straight to the airport, or you could have a cheap taxi.

I would expect that several member of your tour will do similar, and the Tour Guide will help with post tour arrangements...
Thank you all, for your feedback and suggestions. We are going to stay an extra night in Lucca after the tour ends. We've been there before and love it. Then off to Zurich from FLR. Given the cost of a private car or taxi, I'm now leaning more towards the train. We have used a private car in Porto to go to Lisbon and that was a great deal. But that's Portugal.
