Prior to the heart of Italy tour in October 25 we are planning on 2-3 days prior. Should be we attempt to go to the Vatican? I know with the Jubilee it will be packed. Should we spend our time at less popular sites. We would love it but I am not sure with the crowds it would be worth it. We are not particularly art people. We just have a couple of days prior to the tour and didn’t want to start off with an unpleasant experience. This is our first trip to Italy but not sure if we will come again. Thanks for your advice. I go back and forth. My husband is not a fan of crowds.
There are always crowds at the Vatican. I visited in 2019; it has to be worse now especially with the Jubilee. Instead you might like San Clemente which is a working church plus an archaeological dig. https://www.basilicasanclemente.com/eng/
If you have time in Florence, go to Michelangelo’s drawings at Medici Chapel. It’s very limited access so plan ahead.

Neither sight will be crowded so you husband can enjoy them. Both were among my favorite sights on last year’s trip.
Buon Viaggio! You will love Italy and want to return.
It doesn't look like your tour goes to San Clemente Church. It sounds like a better fit for you and especially your husband, than the Vatican.
You don’t have to go thru the crowded Vatican Museums if you just want to visit St. Peter’s Church. It really is a marvel and would be a shame to miss especially if you are not planning on coming back.
