Our last stop in Italy is a stay in Rome. We will flying home from Rome Fiumicino Airport.
We are staying in an airbnb apartment and have no access to a printer to print out our boarding passes.
Can we have them printed at the Delta counter upon arrival, the day of our flight?

Yes, you can do this either at the counter or the self check in kiosks; most passengers will be doing it this way. In addition you may also be able to put your boarding pass on your smartphone.

I have been using my iPhone for the last two years for my boarding pass and it works great.

If you get the Delta app, you will most likely be able to check in and get your boarding passes on your phone. Only once in the past few years was I not able to do this.
If you are not using the app but will have access to a computer, you can usually do online check in, even when you cannot print the boarding passes (there's an option during the check in process to choose to print boarding passes at the airport instead of having them e-mailed to you).
If you are using boarding passes from your phone, turn it up to brightest setting, as it makes it easier for the scanner to read.
