Price for private guides2025

Hello,

We are looking to book a private guide for Uiffizi and got three quote:

  1. 290 euro for 2 hrs, got it off from RS book
  2. 250 euro for 2.5 hrs, got it off from a travel website
  3. 180 euro for 2.5 hrs, found it on RS forum.

I mean, we just want someone is engaging and show us the highlights instead of us wandering around from room to room. Will the experience be very different?
Any thought on this?

Thank you.

We will hire a guide for a museum when we travel with another couple. When we travel alone the cost is a little too high for us.
When we were in the Uffizi last August we listened to Rick’s audio guide and we enjoyed his commentary. It was enough for us.
Just download Rick’s audio Europe app and there are many great tours.

When we do hire museum guides, I usually use the ones recommended in Rick’s guidebooks. We haven’t been disappointed yet.

I took a small group tour of the Uffizi (limited to six people) with Context Travel (recommended in Rick’s book). It turned out that there was only one other person so it was really like a private tour. The guide was excellent. I just looked at their website and it appears they are currently charging $149 per person for a small group tour. Here’s their website: https://www.contexttravel.com/cities/florence/tours/uffizi-gallery-tour-crash-course

We also used Context, same tour as Renee. The guide was an art historian. While I’ve used Rick’s audio guides and enjoyed them, there is nothing like an expert guide who can answer questions and give insight into the works you are viewing. In addition he was willing to offer other tips after the tour-other sites, dining etc. When you consider the entire cost of your trip this is worthwhile indulgence.

We have toured with Eleonora twice on prior trips, including the Uffizi, Accademia, and a walking tour around Florence, and will utilize her services for two days on our upcoming trip. I cannot recommend her highly enough: https://www.florencearound.com/
Worth every penny, and I thought it was even more valuable specifically for the Uffizi. We got so much more from the experience than we would have on our own or even with an audio guide.
