Prepurchasing water taxi tickets for Easter Sunday-question

We are arriving in Venice in the early evening on Easter Sunday. Our hotel recommended prebooking a water taxi to the hotel on venicewatertaxi.it which is not a secure website. I’ve already had my credit card info stolen once during all the trip planning purchases, so I didn’t buy the tickets from the website.

Since we are arriving Easter Sunday, do we need to buy in advance, or will all services be normal and we can just buy upon arrival?

Thank you for your help.

My first thought is are you staying at a reputable hotel? Usually the hotel can arrange a taxi for you if you need it. I’ve never been told by any Venice hotel to go to that website (which I’ve not heard of) and previous a taxi. It just raises red flags for me.

Admittedly I’ve prebooked several water taxis from consorzio motoscafi and they’ve all been fine. But none of my hotels have ever recommended me book one on my own.

hey travelisfun
we arrived by water taxi and loved it. we used motoscafivenezia.it, pre booked, walked to boat area and had an great ride. make sure to have your confirmation # (i printed it, the address of hotel and what stop you get off at, plus directions to hotel)
the city will be crowded, walk the back canals away from crowds and enjoy this magical place.

Just want to be sure you are talking about the actual (very pricey) water taxis and not the more affordable but kind of junky Alilaguna boats from the airport into the historic center.
