Prepaid Esim

Any suggestions for the best prepaid Esim for talk, text, and data for Italy and Germany? Thanks.

I've tested Airalo in prep for our upcoming RSE Best of Tuscany in 37 days; I set up a 7-day, $5 eSIM here at home, made some calls, did some texting, downloaded some documents, to see how it worked.

It worked great, is really easy to use, and I found it fairly transparent. There are single-country eSIMs, and there is also a regional eSIM that covers 39 countries in Europe if you're going to both Italy and Germany in the same time period.

For a 30-day eSIM in Italy, 10GB of data transfer, it will cost me $24; if I wanted to make phone calls (I won't), I could spend another $5 for a temporary phone number, using their companion app called Hushed, which will assign you a phone number that you can use with your eSIM.

You can find Airalo on the Apple App Store; I'm sure it's also available for other devices as well. Most iPhones are supported, going back to the iPhone 10, I believe.

Thanks Bob, I’ll check it out. I’m currently switching from Verizon to T-Mobile in the US. They have a solution as well but not as cost attractive as your suggestion. Cost is a factor but, so is simplicity and convenience.
