Prebook Train Tickets Rome to Florence?

Hi!
I've been looking online for train tickets on trenitalia.com for our trip in late June from Rome to Florence and they have some good pricing online: 29 euros per person (sometimes for Super Economy or other upgraded classes, not just your basic seating). Is it worth it to buy ahead? We know exactly what day we'll be traveling and around what time we want to leave.

Thanks!

Tracy, it seems like you've answered your question. If you know your travel dates, why not save some money? That adds up to a lot of gelato breaks!

Trenitalia lets you choose your seats now, so you can sit together - not always possible if you wait until you are there and need the fast train. Check the box for Select Seats. And check the box for an SMS message to be sent to you.

The best prices become available 4 months before your travel date. Definitely book them then and save a bundle. There won't be any more available at the low prices. It's first come, first served, then they're gone. You'll find that some of the more desirable routes disappear in a day. Given that you're traveling in less than three months, GRAB THEM NOW!!! :-)

The only reason, and it is a good reason, to book in advance is to take advantage of the discounts. But, remember, these tickets come with limitations and you should view it as being absolutely locked into those days and times. Personally think there is limited advantage to using something other than second class. Second class is closer to business class on the airlines and we find the space more than adequate. But that is a personal opinion and others may disagree.
