I am a 70+ fit female who will be traveling solo in September and will not have a car. I'll pick up local tours at my destination. I would like to extend my Italy trip beyond Sicily and am considering a 3 night stay in Naples. Previously I have traveled in Tuscany, Umbria, Venice, Rome and Puglia areas. I considered a route into Croatia but given the times sticking to one country seems prudent. Are there options I should consider other than Naples? Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Molfit, when we took the Sicily tour, we went several days early and spent the entire time in Palermo. We never got bored, and never ran out of things to do there.
Molfit,
How long is your proposed trip to Sicily?
I traveled solo to Sicily in 2018 and spent 3.5 weeks there. I actually wished to have had more time to explore this amazing island!
My inspiration to travel to Sicily came from my late friend, Zoe.
She used to travel to her beloved Italia every spring and she shared many eloquently written trip reports with everyone here on this forum.
You’ll find her trip reports in the post: Remembering Zoe…
I hope you find some inspiration in her trip reports, like I did!
Please let me know if you’re interested in reading about my trip and I’ll post a link to it.
Enjoy planning your trip to beautiful Sicily!
Edited to add:
If you fly to/from Milan, you may consider spending some time in Northern Italy and explore some of the Lakes (Como, Maggiore & Garda) as well as Verona, Padua & or Venice.
There is also the Amalfi Coast which you can take a ferry to and from Sicily.
