Pre-purchase of tickets to Florence museums

I purchased tickets online to the Uffizi and the Accademia museums for our September trip. I went to the b-ticket website and obtained reservations for a specific date and time. I received two emails confirming my orders. The emails seem to be the vouchers we exchange for our tickets, (they actually say "Come to the ticket office with this voucher . . .") but they say the tickets were "free" and only show the "reservation price" of 8 euros (4 per purchase). Are these the vouchers we use for entry? Why were the tickets "free?" RS's book says the entry fees are 6.5 euros. Advice?

Cannot directly answer your question. Our hotel arranged the tickets, and we were given a printed voucher which appears to be similar to what you have. (Come to ticket office....) We took that voucher to a special window, not the regular line, and exchange for entry tickets and went in. This was three years ago so don't remember the price. But the process was a little confusing. There was a very long line in front and it was not obvious where we should go. So we showed our "papers" to the guard at the head of the line who directed us inside to the other window.

Gail,

I'm pretty sure I know what happened...You selected the 'free' tickets by default.

I just did a mock purchase; unless you change the type of ticket (FROM Free to Full Price or Reduced), the default setting is for the 'free' ticket.

Don't Hold Your Breath - You might try to contact them, but the website rules say No Refunds...

Worst case, it's an 8 Euro mistake; it could've been much worse...

Agrees with Mary, I noticed the same thing when I ordered mine earlier this month

Thanks. I'll go back and try it again. I'm sure I'll be making a lot more "8 euro" mistakes along the way!

Again, thanks. I just went back and correctly entered "Full." This helpline site is such a great resource. I have taken copious notes based on the tips provided.

There is a per-ticket fee for the reservation. This is in addition to the cost of the tickets you buy. If a ticket costs 6.50, you will pay 10.50 for a reserved ticket. If a ticket costs 0, then you pay 4.00 for the reserved ticket.

Gail, you just made an 8 Euro donation to the arts in Florence - think of yourself as an art patron LOL!
