I will be on a Med. cruise in June that leaves from Rome and disembarks in Barcelona. I would like to do a pre-cruise trip in Italy.
I have been to Italy many years ago and I know that a week is not a lot of time, so I will be visiting things that I didn't see the first time I went to Italy.
Day 1: Fly into Milan, get over jet lag for a day,
Day 2: See the Last Supper and the Duomo. Then train to Ravenna afternoon.
Day 3: See the mosaics in Ravenna and then transport to Florence.
Day 4: I have spent a lot of time previously in Florence, so I would spend the morning shopping and then fly to Naples. Air Italia seems to have flights that are just a little more than the train,
I would then take the ferry to Sorrento. Spend night in Sorrento.
Day 5: Half day tour to Capri, then make my way to Rome
Day 6: Full day in Rome
Day 7: Rome then transport to cruise ship port
Questions:
What is the best time to fly into Milan to minimize jet lag? I am concerned about not sleeping on a red eye and arriving in the morning exhausted. Should I try to arrive in Milan in the evening?
Do you think I can experience good/very good Emilia Romagna food in Ravenna or should I try to do an evening trip to Bologna?
How much time should I allow to get to Civitavecchia (cruise port). Ship leaves at 5 pm.
