Pre-booking Tours in Rome and Amalfi Coast Region

Happy New Year! Planning a trip with my family of 6 (all adults) for Rome and Amalfi coast in mid to late April and getting a bit overwhelmed with the number of tour options and companies to prebook tours. Is it best to book tours directly on official sites (e.g. Colosseum, Vatican/Sistine, Pompeii) or go through a company like Walks of Italy, etc.? We want to have knowledgeable guides and skip lines with reputable outfits. Some sights we won't mind doing on our own (Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, etc.) and taking our chances with guides on the spot but the "big ones" we want to make sure we are locked in early with the right guides. If you can share any personal experience, we would be grateful. Thanks in advance!

We have always pre booked entrance tickets on the official sites and have not taken taken any tours.

I highly recommend Walks of Italy, we have done multiple tours with them and have always come away with more knowledge and a great experience. In Rome we used them for The Vatican (Early entrance), The Crypts and The Colosseum. We also used them in Florence also. We received a multiple tour discount also, not sure if they still offer that. They are small group and sell out fast.
