I’m a female solo traveller and thinking of going to Praia a mare, I’ve tried to research if it is a safe area for solo travel for a girl but have found it difficult to find an answer. If anyone has been there and has insight I’d love to hear!
It looks absolutely beautiful-an Italian site not overtouristed! I hope you get positive information as it seems a good place to travel.
And I just saw this which still doesn’t answer your safety question, but is good info anyway: https://italybeyondtheobvious.com/calabria-guide-what-to-see-and-do/
Thank you so much! I’ll have a read
Having traveled solo in Italy quite a bit, I would just say use the same precautions you would in any unfamiliar place, and have a good time. For me such precautions include staying in touch with a loved one at least once a day so they know where I am, avoiding telling strangers where I'm going, not imbibing alcohol or accepting any food/drink not served by a professional server, and following my gut instincts. YMMV.
Re: not telling where I'm going ... people will often ask, and of course I don't want to be confrontational and say "I'm not telling you." Instead I reply in a friendly tone and give them a fairly vague answer, or I name a destination that may be near or in the same direction as my intended one.
