Does anyone know what type of power converter is needed for the I-Pads and I-Notebooks?
You do not need a voltage converter for your iPad, just a plug adaptor.
ALWAYS check the voltage input requirement for the devices by looking at the tag or what is printed on the power cord. If it says something s about 120-240v you are OK but it only lists 120v that you need a converter. It is never safe to assume something takes 120-240v without checking.
Mary, As Frank mentioned, it's extremely important to always verify the Input Voltage ratings of any electronic devices you'll be travelling with. It's highly likely that all Apple products these days are designed for "world operation", but assuming this is the case can have "unfortunate consequences" (which may include a spectacular display of sparks and smoke!). You will of course require Plug Adapters as well, appropriate for the countries you'll be visiting. Cheers!
Yes, do check, but my iPad has happily spent four weeks in Europe on two separate trips, charged frequently with just a plug adaptor.
As someone helpfully noted in a thread earlier today addressing the identical question, if you have a laptop, you can use an Apple cable that will connect the iPad to your laptop's usb.
