We (4 peeps) will be traveling to Amalfi Coast end of August / beginning of September, 2020 for about 10 days. We would like to rent a villa in Positano or Praiano. Which town would you recommend as a base? Also, do you have any recommendations on villas or from what company to rent?

Unfortunately I don't have any recommendations for villas but if intending to do a lot of day-tripping - 10 days is a long time - I probably wouldn't choose either one but at least Positano has public ferry & bus service whereas Praiano is only served by bus so I guess I'd go with that one. Rental car, BTW, is usually roundly discouraged for exploring the coast during high season - which is when you'll be there - due to clogged roads and very limited parking.
Personal preference, for sure, but my own would be for a location with ferry, bus AND rail service if a lot of regional sightseeing is on the agenda. But then, if just intending to stick mostly to the villa - there isn't a lot to do in either town - then either location will probably do.
