Positano to Naples train station

Hello, I am debating on staying an extra night in Positano instead of Naples. But I have to leave Naples by train to Rome at 10am. Is it crazy to leave Positano very early to get to the Naples train station by then?

What is at stake if you don't get to Napoli by 10am?

How are you planning to get to Naples??? We had a driver pick us up at the Naples train station and drive us to Positano. A week later he returned and took us back to the Naples train station. There are so many variables involved....heavy traffic, construction, accidents....the extra night in Positano would not be worth the stress for me, but that is just me. When we were picked up in Naples our driver told us that many natives had purchased scooters just to be able to navigate the city traffic and be able to get to work. There is a great deal of construction around the train station and the interstate was at a standstill for over two hours due to an accident on the day of our arrival...

Just missing a high speed train pre paid to Rome, so not too bad they were 21 euros, so I would just take regional to Rome

Road traffic isn't going to be a problem for this trip: the OP can take a bus from Positano to Sorrento and then a train to Naples. His train to Rome from Naples is late enough in the morning not to be much of an issue, IMHO.

The Circumvesuviana starts running from Sorrento pretty early in the morning but give yourself more versus less time. Here's the current schedule:

You need about two hours to get from Positano to Napoli Centrale, probably bus Positano to Sorrento, Circumvesuviana to Napoli Piazza Garibaldi (downstairs from Napoli Centrale.

I wouldn't do it, because of possible commuter train delays, but it's up to you.

I fly into Naples originally, but i just realized that will be on May 1st, isnt that Labor day, will there be issues getting to Positano from the airport?

If i was going to try the morning to Naples, i would try to leave my hotel like 6 in the morning just to be sure, id rather get there early and chill out with a cup of coffee then to push trying to make it 2 hours before leaving.

Why don't you stay in Naples the last night? What are you gaining by another night in Positano (it's really really small compared to Naples)? I don't know if you're already seeing Naples on this trip, but personally I wouldn't skip it, warts and all. It's a fascinating place.

well that was the original plan, to hit pompeii on the way to Naples to leave out the next morning, im leaning on letting it stay that way. Ill just have to go back and do a week in the Amalfi coast.

If i were to change it i would have visited Pompeii on the way to Positano.

We are also staying in Postiano 4 nights and need transfers from Naples airport to positano and returning from positano to Naples train station to rome - I just read your info and noticed most people saying the traffic would be bad and to allow sufficient time but I'm estimating to leave positano at 7am and catch a bus to Sorrento - then train it from Sorrento then onto Naples via local train. Has anyone does this leg? And would you recommend to do this over a car transfer? I'm just thinking to reduce the stress of unknown traffic.
