Happy New Year! My family and I are hoping to get from Positano to Matera on Sunday, April 14 (1 week before Easter) and a re a bit stuck in our research. If this were not on a Sunday I think it would be quite doable--we'd take a ferry from Positano to Salerno, then rent a car (return the car in Bari a few days later). However it seems car rentals are extremely hard to come by on Sundays in smaller cities like Salerno, and where there is availability it's obscenely expensive. What's more, it's not totally clear to me whether the ferry runs to Positano in April, let alone on Sundays in April; different websites seem to conflict on that point.
Any ideas? We're flexible in our route and methods of transportation and willing to spend a bit more to get to our destination without shifting our dates.
