Hi! I will be staying in Positano from June 10-14th. Does anyone have restaurant recommendations. One night me and my boyfriend would like to do a really nice/romantic dinner. Should I call before I arrive in Italy to make reservations or just make them when I arrive? Thanks!
I cannot remember the name of the place, but if you take the walk to the Hotel Pupetto it is located just above the walkway over looking the ocean. we stayed at the Hotel Pupetto (which was excellent) and ate at this place our last night. Great location and very romantic. Sorry I can't remember the name. We walked up and made a reservation in person. You are going to love Positano. I also recommend taking the ferry down to Amalfi for the afternoon.
The restaurant at Le Sireunse is nice, but we didn't want to spend that type of money. Instead, we went to their fairly new outdoor cocktail bar with the iconic view for before dinner drinks...it's called Francos. It is swanky and gorgeous. Wonderful photo op. Then, right down the street, 5 minute walk, is Bar Bruno. It has an outdoor restaurant on the sidewalk with that same view...wonderful food. I think I made reservations, I don't remember.
I mentioned in another thread that we were in Positano in early March, and it was still almost completely shut down for the winter. Beautiful vistas, however, and we did find one little spot open on the upper road, very near the Sponda bus stop, LiGalli Bar.
Apparently it is associated with a much higher-end restaurant down near the beach in season, but we had a very pleasant al fresco lunch, with a great antipasto plate, fried calamari and a hamburger panini, which was fabulous.
Just about every restaurant that you can walk to in the main town is very romantic...your hotel may recommend, as they mostly do, to make a reservation for you somewhere up in the hills, we did not want to do this and we ate each of the three nights along the beach in different places.
Le Sirenuse would be very romantic if it fits your budget.
Make sure that you bring flat easily packed water shoes, you won't find them easily in Positano and you cannot get into or out of the water without them. :)
Enjoy!
Bruno's as mentioned above is good & prices fairly reasonable for Positano. Ate there twice in Sept. Check out Hotel Eden Roc. We ate lunch on their terrace but I believe they also have a formal restaurant.
