We will be spending six nights in Positano in late September. We are looking for a small hotel, apartment, B&B etc. that is in a good location for walking since we will not have a car, must have a terrace with great view and be clean! I have been searching booking.com, airbnb and someway.com for a couple of weeks now. I have seen several places in Montepertuso but looks a little further from the center of town than i would like to be. If you have any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much!

We stayed at Rifugio Degli Dei in Positano and absolutely LOVED it. We did not have a car and walked everywhere. It's also right at a bus stop so you'll u could take that to other towns. Check out their website. I would like to go back and stay a month. The only thing is you have to be prepared to climb stairs, but I think that's the case wherever you stay. But there are at least 250 steps, it's totally worth it. I don't think you could find a better view.
Have hou looked at SleepinItaly?
Stayed at Hotel Savoia on the R S southern Italy tour. Great location on the main road in and out of town so would be close to buses. Close to the main pedestrian route down to the beach. Although it is a steep hill I had no problems with it as the steps are shallow and the switchbacks make it manageable. Only had breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment on meals, but there is a good restaurant heading toward Amalfi, maybe 10-15 mins. Walk away.
I have also stayed at Hotel Savoia. It was very nice and my room with balcony had great views. There's a bus stop at the end of the street, only a few minutes walk from the hotel. The street down to the beach and ferry dock is also near the hotel.
Note: there are 2 bus stops in Positano. One is at the very top of town, as you arrive from Sorrento. The second, the one near the hotel, is near the bottom of town just before the bus departs Positano and continues on towards Amalfi.
We stayed at the Hotel Montemare on our honeymoon and couldn't have been happier with the choice. It had a glorious terrace for breakfast, we had a nice terrace off of our room, the view was indescribably beautiful, it was spic and span, and we walked through town and caught the bus wherever else we needed to go. The restaurant on the same breakfast terrace was also good and great value for the Amalfi Coast, we felt. We were there in mid September.
