Positano Hotels and Ideas on Activities

Hi All, I am seeing post from the past on Positano but want to get some recent advice. We will be in Rome in early October and are looking at taking 3 days to go to Positano. Would love ideas on places to stay that are reasonably priced and in a great location along with ideas of things we need to see and do while we are there. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance!!

We stayed in Hotel Savoia on a Rick Steves trip - it was wonderful!! You can find out about rates, dates, all kinds of info on Tripadvisor.
I took the local bus to Amalfi and enjoyed the bus trip along the coast, walked around Amalfi, had lunch......
Everyone is our group loved this hotel. You can find a lot of info under "things to do" for Positano,
Amalfi and other small towns.
Happy Travels.

Not sure what reasonably priced means for you but we spend 3 nights at the Hotel Eden Roc in a room with a balcony with an most fantastic view. We loved the hotel, the room, the staff and the breakfast. It's a great spot. Their rates vary by season - you'd have to punch in your days to get an accurate sense. It was our splurge hotel for our trip and I have no regrets.

You might have a few issues finding rooms at this point. We stayed at the hotel California, it was in the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun". Midway up, beautiful iconic view, nice owners. Right across from Le Sirunese Hotel. Rooms are sparsely decorated, but clean. Free continental breakfast and wifi in common area. Rates very good and manageable to walk up to. Positano is laid back. We spent the days at the beach, shopped went to great restaurants. One afternoon a trip to Capri, but stayed in.town. it was the last leg of a very busy 10 trip and wanted the downtime. If you are in the touring mood, not do much to do there.

You could take the ferry to some other towns along the coast, plus the bus from Amalfi to Ravello.

If you like sweets, stop in Minori at Sal de Riso across the street from the harbor - fabulous pastry chef, my new favorite place for indulgence.

I will have to agree with Frances, Hotel Savoia was wonderful. My husband and I had a wonderful balcony providing a beautiful view. He and I spent the morning hiking and the afternoon at the beach. We purchased a hiking map at a local store. The views were spectacular, so were the numerous stairs. October might not work for the beach, depends on temperature.

We had a delicious meal at Ristorante Bruno. Their website is sadly lacking, but you can find reviews and photos on the internet.

I second Restaurante Bruno. If you sit inside it's small and quaint. Or right across the small road us the outdoor seating, very romantic with the Positano view...food is delicious. Just down the street is Francos, it's just a year old and it's a place to have cocktails. Again, the iconic Positano view...people love to get thete pic there. Small, but elegant and swanky place. Owned by Hotel Le Sirunese. I know I'm spelling that wrong.
