We are staying on the Amalfi coast for nine days split between Positano for six and Ravello for three in September. We are planning day trips to Sorrento, Capri, and Pompeii. Thoughts on additional day trips and from where is greatly appreciated. We plan on using the ferry from Positano to get to both Sorrento and Capri. Any ideas on additional activity thoughts are greatly appreciated.

You are staying in two lovely places, but they are not ideal for daily day-tripping. Make sure you know how far and how many stair-steps between your hotels and transit. Do you have the cash for car service for some trips? You should combine Sorrento-day with another destination, because it has the best transit connections. Arrange departure day timing now.

Be careful with where you stay in Positano. We had a lovely view but could not go anywhere without climbing up and down steps. It frankly got old.
Personally, I liked Amalfi better. It is flatter and is a transportation hub. It is charming as well. You can take ferry from Positano to Amalfi which is lovely. You would then have to take bus to Ravello. We were only in Ravello for afternoon but would have enjoyed more time there. We walked back to Amalfi down steps and through farm land and finally to Atrani and through a tunnel back to Amalfi.
