Positano Boat Company

Hello. We are staying in Positano July 10-14. We are having difficulty finding a boat tour company that has availability for group tours of Blue Grotto tour and/or Amalphi Coast tour. Any suggestions?

Hopefully you'll hear from someone with personal experience with the boat tours (I haven't done one) but in the meantime....

Explore other options here, if you haven't found the Positano tourism website yet:

Personally? I wouldn't make accessing the Blue Grotto a stipulation for booking a boat tour. You'd have to transfer from your larger boat to a smaller rowboat, the seas might not cooperate for accessing the thing at all, the rowboat operators are reported to hassle people for tips, and too many reviews in general are less than glowing. It can also eat up a lot of time best used elsewhere. We skipped it when we stayed on the island and didn't feel like we'd missed anything.

We skipped the Blue Grotto on our four nights on Capri. We did take a boat ride around the island which wasn’t as good as staying on Capri and exploring. If you visit Capri, stay overnight.

if you watch Nicki Positano (and of course you should), you know she only rides with Elizabeth and her daughters

Considering how far it is to Capri, I wouldn't want to be on a boat smaller than a ferry that carries hundreds of people, cars, or both. No mainland tour operator can guarantee access to the Blue Grotto, and I wonder if they even promise to jump the line (for transfer to hand-paddled local boat with separate tipping of rower.) As noted wave action can prohibit the transfer, even after you get to Capri.

I have ferried to Capri, from from Sorrento, where the port takes much bigger boats than can enter the Positano harbor. I mean, even the scheduled ferries, not just talking about dayboat tours.

Have a look at Google maps for the trip. We also skipped the Blue Grotto, but it's not for me to say what the prime objective of your excursion is.
