theresab, "reasonable" can mean different things to different people. What is your desired per-night ballpark?

When visiting Sorrento back in 2006 we stayed at Il Nido. Very reasonable back then. I have not forgotten this place for the beautiful view on the balcony eating a excellent meal, as the sun is setting on Vesuvius. It is above Sorrento but they do have a shuttle service down to the town with a pick up later in the evening. We did have a car back then but we parked it at the hotel and used the shuttle for the 3 days we were there.
We will be going back next year but we have elected to stay in town with my daughter and granddaughter(more for them to do at night).
As for Positano try Residence la Tavolozza. We had a big room with a balcony that overlooks the city. It is easy to get to by bus from Sorrento. If you have a car they will make a reservation for you at a garage down the street. You will have to inquire if they still do that At that time they did not offer breakfast but maybe they do now. It was very reasonably priced. It is a family owned business and we were fortunate that the mother made us reservation at a restaurant up in the hills and they they came and picked us up.

For Positano.
Stayed here several years ago. Suggested by a college friend’s bank colleagues from her bank Positano branch.

If you are looking for reasonable prices and great value for the price, you couldn’t possibly do better.
If you are looking for luxury and posh, then you need to look elsewhere.
