Portovenere or Bolgheri?

We were planning to take a day trip from Lucca to Portovenere in about a week and a half, but now we are thinking about Bolgheri instead. Please help us decide! (We are already going to Viareggio another day, so no need to mention that location). We are just looking for another coastal day trip. We are not looking for a beach day, we are just looking to have great seafood and just walk around a nice coastal Italian town. What's dissuading us from going to Portovenere is dealing with the Cinque Terre crowds at La Spezia train station and the additional bus ride we need to take to get there. Would Bolgheri be less crowded? We don't have a car and are traveling by train. Please advise.
Thanks,
Sam

I found Bolgheri to be a one dimensional village entirely devoted to wine and restaurants. Pretty and interesting to a point but not a real town and not unlike a mall. Go with Portovenere and read up on it as it has much more history than the Cinque Terre. In 5 years you can say, 'I'm glad I went there when it was not insanely crowded."
