That's a tough one.

Your destination is known to be extremely expensive, and properties towards the centre are the most expensive of all.

Then you want to have parking, and it needs to be affordable.

What do you see as "affordable", in Euros?

kim,

"Affordable" and Portofino aren't usually mentioned in the same sentence. One other option you could consider would be to stay in Santa Margherita Ligure and just day trip to Portofino. You can get there by Bus, Boat (about 20 minutes each way) or hike. Arriving by boat in the scenic harbour next to the yachts is always a treat (that's the Ferry just to the right of the large yacht).

There's not a lot to see in Portofino, other than Castello Brown which is up on the hill above the town. They often have art exhibits and things like that (at a cost of course). The hike up is very easy. There are some posh shops around the harbour, but unless you have a large budget you likely won't be shopping there.

The Eight Hotel, the Eden Hotel, the Domina hotel all have parking arrangements and are in town. If by affordable you intend in the $300-600 range they are affordable.
The Belmond has parking too but it's on top of the hill. It's very nice but it's in the $1,000 to $3,000 range (per night).
The public parking structure is not cheap. I parked there last year for about one hour and it was around €10. Not sure what it would be for a full day.

That's a fairly nice collection of cars in the garage photo in't it? I'll have any one of those, please. The only problem is that neither the Maseratis nor the Lamborghinis would fit on my driveway. They are far too wide. I guess I'll have to stick with a Ferrari. Oh well.

Just to update, I stayed in santa margherita ligure as suggested by others and glad we did. spent the afternoon and evening there and drove into portofino the next morning. a boat ride would have been preferred but we did not have the time and needed to be on our schedule. we booked at the lido palace - great location, 170 for the night and parking another 30 and very close. we did find online rates at hotel eden in portofino comparable but was ready to be done driving - too many switchbacks! responders were correct, not a lot to do in portofino and so many lively restaurants, shops and piazza entertainment in st margherita - great recommendations.

Hotel Marincanto has parking for E27 if yu are spending the night.
This is a very beautiful experience to staying in this hotel.

Hotel Marincanto is not in Portofino, Liguria rather in Positano, Amalfi Coast.
