Going to our daughter's wedding in mid-October near Siena. I thought we would then visit Florence for a day then head to La Spezia/Porto Venere for one day of rest/sightseeing/tasting wine, one day walking/photographing CT and one day wandering Porto Venere. Suggestions? Thank you,

Are you planning on just making a day trip to the CT from Florence? I'd suggest limiting your stay to the five CT towns rather than Porto Venere, as that's more difficult and time consuming to reach by public transportation. I'm not sure whether the boats will still be running then? If the water is "rough", they won't be operating.

Thank you, Ken. We are planning to spend a couple of days in CT. Last year we visited Rome, Florence, Bologna, Maranello. The couple traveling with us have not been to Italy before and will see Rome on the way out. Interested in a half-day walking food and wine tour of CT if anyone wants to offer any advice. Reading the Rick Steves guide also. Thanks,
