hotels & sights in portifino
Do you have a guide book that includes Portofino
Or you have tried Google?
I don't recall there being a lot of "sights" in Portofino, other than having a look at the yachts of the rich & famous. Castello Brown is a museum on a hill overlooking the harbour, and there can sometimes be interesting exhibits there, but that's the only sight that comes to mind. Staying in Portofino for a day or two would probably be somewhat boring. Hotels tend to be on the "high" end of the price scale, so be sure you have a generous budget if you're planning to stay there.
As an alternative, you might book a few nights in Santa Margherita Ligure, and just day trip to Portofino.
Portofino is very small and filled with very pricey boutique shops, hotels and restaurants. Pretty natural surroundings. Crowds, traffic. Hard to find parking although there is an underground garage. Nothing to do except pay a lot for everything. Boring!! We much prefer nearby Santa Margherita Ligure.
The truth? If you are not fond of big boats and small boutiques in Portofino there is absolutely nothing to keep anyone interested for more than 60 minutes.
Ok, it's nice, but it's also One of the few places on earth more boring than the Cinque Terre villages.
At least in the Cinque Terre food isn't mediocre and overpriced.
We stayed in lovely Santa Margherita and day tripped by ferry to Portofino
The town is pretty and charming but there is nothing much to do there
We found a not too expensive pizza for lunch, walked around for a few minutes and left
I guess we were there no more than 2-3 hours tops
I don’t know what you’d do for a longer/overnight stay other than enjoy the views
Portifino is good for a few hours. Walk to the lighthouse (bring water, it's steep in parts and can get hot).
Bring lunch with you and sit at the waterfront and watch the yachts and the people walking around.
Eat gelato.
that's it!
