Will be staying near the Porta Vescovo Train Station in Verona is this a decent area to stay near? Is this good for day trips? Any info appreciated. Thanks.
divisu, I'm not familiar with that part of Verona, but it would help if you could provide some further information. Is there a reason you're staying in that area, as opposed to closer to the main centre of Verona and the Porta Nuova station? While the area you're considering provides reasonably close access to the main part of town, there probably won't be a lot to do there in the evenings. Cheers!
Buses leave from the front of the station to Piazza Bra' or it's a 15min walk. The walk between Piazza Bra' and Piazza Erbe will get you to the major sights.
I was able to rent an apartment for four with a kitchen, this will be our fourth week of our vacation and thought a kitchen would be good. Help keep cost down. We all like walking and not to much on a night life. But did want access to public transportation.
We also want to take day trips to Lake Garda and Venice can it be does from this station or do we need to get to Porta Novua? We are staying six days.
Porta Vescovo is smaller than the main train station but you can definitely catch trains to Venice or other places from there. At the very least you might have to change at Porta Nuovo, no big deal. There's a little ristorante/cafe inside the station to wait if you need to.
divisu,
Disregard my reply from yesterday, I had the wrong station, Sorry
