Pope on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception Questions

I will be in Rome on December 8. When the Pope goes to the Spanish Steps for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception Is his transportation route known and published in advance. I want to catch a glimpse but don't want to go near the mobs at the steps.
As a side note does anyone have recommendations for catching a glimpse another way. I will be arriving in Venice on December 5 and leaving December 9 in the morning. I currently have 2 Walks of Italy trips reserved (Pristine Sistine on 12/6 and Colosseum/Forum VIP on 12/7 )

Thanks in advance for any assistance or guidance.

Hi there - actually, with the Pope being a head of state, it's very uncommon that the route is disclosed that many months in advance. For security reasons, of course.
Honestly, I never even saw it printed or broadcasted right before the event.
He could arrive from a number of streets/directions, including piazza Barberini/via del Tritone, via del Corso/via dei Condotti or through the tunnel that connects via Nazionale to via del Tritone.

Just a heads up that he won't be at all at the Spanish Steps but beside them, by the column that's in front of the Spanish Embassy (by the entrance of a McDonald's, if you want to StreetView it). They're super close but it makes a world of difference when you're a pedestrian in that area.
